Periodisation and Colonisation 
Objective: To identify the features of the three periods of Indian history.
 Task 1:Refer PPT1 _VIII_Hist_Traces of Modern Indian History slide number 2 to 9, and understand the three periods of Indian history.

Task 2: Paper Magic (Optional) Create a colorful bunting timeline depicting the important events from the three period of the Indian History.

Sources to study the modern history of India.
Task 2:Read about the significance of diaries, autobiographies, travelogues, newspapers, books, magazines, letters and pamphlets as an important source of modern history given onpage no. 2-3 of your textbook, Journey through Time 8.

Task 3:Go to the website https://gandhi.gov.in/basic-books.html choose any work written by Mahatma Gandhi and solve the Activity Sheet 2_VIII_SSc_Traces of Modern Indian History.

 Task 4:Watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axD6pVOWzD4to understand the colonial architecture.Write down in your notebook any five characteristics of the colonial architecture discussed in the video.

Task 5:To further examine how photographs help to record modern Indian history visit website https://rashtrapatisachivalaya.gov.in/rbtour/making-rastrapati-bhavan

Task 6:Conduct a comparative study on the ‘then’ (past) and ‘now’ (present) cities of India using photographs. Use your notebook for this activity.  Check Your Progress Write answer of Source A, WS 1 VIII_SSc_Traces of Modern Indian History in your note book.

Task 7:  Read textbook page no. 4-5.  Refer textbook page no. 7 and write answers of Q.1 to Q.3 in your note book.
